1.THE DAPHNE GALIZIA CARUANA FOUNDATION

Matthew Caruana Galizia, director, and Tina Urso, COO, of The Daphne
Caruana Galizia Foundation received the 2022 European Citizens’ Award for
Malta on behalf of the Foundation. The award ceremony was held at Europe
House in Valletta.

  •  THE DAPHNE CARUANA GALIZIA FOUNDATION joined The ALF Maltese Network in 2023. The non-profit organisation contributes to the Network in Malta based on its objectives, namely to promote a culture of openness and understanding of human rights, to encourage dialogue and democratic thinking, and to support independent, non-partisan media, as well as support efforts to protect investigative journalists and activists, and uphold guardianship of Daphne Caruana Galizia’s work.
  • The mission of The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation is full justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia’s assassination and full justice for her work and her legacy, to ensure that the outcome she fought for – the rule of law, and freedom from corruption, abuse and human rights violations – is achieved. The aims of the Foundation have both a local and international focus and are the following: – Ensuring the public interest of full justice for Daphne’s assassination – Supporting efforts to protect investigative
    journalists – Ending impunity for the murder of journalists – Guardianship of Daphne’s work – Promoting a culture of public interest litigation – Supporting independent, non-partisan media.
  • The Foundation works to end harassment of journalists and impunity in cases of their murder. Actions include campaigning for and participating in the public inquiry into Daphne’s assassination, forming more robust investigative models based on the work on Daphne’s murder investigation, setting up the Public Interest Litigation Network (PILN), setting up the Malta Investigative Journalism Centre (MIJC), and organising training for journalists and educational public seminars.
  • The Foundation’s council of administration consists of the founders, namely Daphne’s husband Peter, and sons Matthew, Andrew and Paul Caruana Galizia. Peter is the first chairman of the council, which must consist of at least three people. All the council’s members are unpaid. The Foundation’s board of advisors directs its actions and strategy (names are publicly available on its website).

2.MIGRANT WOMEN ASSOCIATION MALTA

MWAM
  • Established on 15 April 2015, the Migrant Women Association Malta is an autonomous, independent, voluntary non-profit making organization, having as its main objective the social & community advancement concerning migrant women in the Maltese Islands. The MWAM is committed towards empowering migrant women to enable them to fully integrate within the society of the host country, in this case the Maltese Islands, and to realize their full potential.
  • Our work covers the following areas; Democracy and community development, Gender, Human rights and International/Cultural relations
  • We exist to promote equal treatment, equal rights and better integration for migrant women in Malta. To provide regular input on all areas of Malta policy development and implementation that have an impact on migrant women’s lives. To help shape social policies and design action programmes addressing migrant women’s specific needs. To represent member’s organisations and lobby for and with migrant women to have a stronger voice at the Malta and EU level. To support migrant women’s organisations and movements through information and trainings.

Holding COMMUNICATIONS SESSIONS

  • The Migrant Women Association Malta organizes regular communication sessions which serve as a safe and welcoming space for migrant women to raise their concerns and gain information and support. The communication sessions also offer an opportunity for migrant women to get involved in the work of the association.

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM MWAM

  • offers the opportunity for women to build relationships throughout the
    association’s activities and projects. We aim to pave the way for
    members to support each other and for more established members to pass
    on their valuable knowledge and experience about life in Malta. This
    service is open to all members of the association.

ADVOCACY MWAM

  • We advocate for the integration and empowerment of migrant women
    living in Malta. MWAM defends migrant women’s rights and voices the
    concerns raised by our members and clients.

3.HERMES CORPORATION

Hermes Corporation
  • We are a Private Organisation set up in 2012 working in the field of Youth and education.
  • Hermes Corporation, is an organization that is dedicated to European projects- involving the planning and management related to Erasmus and Mobilities programs.
  • Our main Mission and Objectives is to offer Youth training programs to further their knowledge and acquire new personal development skills and qualifications offering a higher chance of employability in the European labour market.
  • This is done through Erasmus mobilities Ka1 and Ka2 projects such us :Vet4all, Rapp, Interreg program.
  • We work with Organizations across different Countries to Implement and transfer innovative practices at local, regional, national and European level. Our goal is to Modernize and strengthen the education and training systems.

4.PRISMS MALTA

Prisms Malta

Prisms is a group of experienced youth workers that in 2008 came together with the aim of creating an NGO that caters for the requirements of young people and those working with young people. Prisms aims to empower people with the skills, tools, information and values necessary for personal growth and to be active participants within society. Prisms provides to the necessities of the people it works with through innovative non-formal methods of education so as to reach their needs in a holistic manner. Prisms focuses on coaching and mentoring, online tools, mental wellbeing, inclusion and disability through the following objectives:

Young people

  • Context out: Prisms strives to connect with young people in their environment. Our youth workers reach out to the young people to understand their living situation, at which point they are in their lives and their key relationships with others,
  • Needs-analysis: At the basis of all of our activities lies a person-centred approach that enables us to connect with a purpose. Prisms listens to the young people and their life experiences and together with the young person they identify the needs to be
    addressed,
  • Empower: Prisms believes that every person has potential and through a positive relationship with the young person, it challenges them to set achievable goals for their growth

Youth workers

  • Prisms focuses on both the personal and professional development of youth workers. We believe that the general wellbeing of the youth worker is pivotal as they serve as role- models for young people. Developing their intra and inter personal skills enables the youth worker to engage better with the young people they work with. Prisms provides tools to the youth workers to be more self-reflective and identify areas for growth
  • Linked with the above, on a professional level, Prisms offers innovative tools and methods on how the youth workers can reach, connect, engage and empower young people

Target groups

Prisms has two main target groups;

  • Young people aged between 13 and 35 years old
  • Youth workers, youth leaders and other professionals that work with young people. There is no particular age range for this target group Prisms is currently working with various young people through the different youth groups that we have these being. These youth groups cater for different young people with different needs.
