Travel Minds: A Journey Beyond Borders
In the warm August sunshine of Malta, forty young people will gather from Albania, Portugal, Greece, Lithuania, and Malta for an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange called Travel Minds. Coordinated by Upbeat Music House, the project will bring together participants from different cultures, languages, and life experiences, all united by a common desire to learn, grow, and explore the world, for the first activity of this project. End of September, the young participants will travel to Albania, for the second part of the project, also a youth exchange.
For many of them, this will be their first journey abroad. Some come from small towns where opportunities to travel are limited. Others would have had never met people from another country before. As they will arrive in Malta, excitement will mix with nervousness. Will they make friends? Will they understand each other? What will they discover about themselves?
The first days will be filled with icebreakers, cultural presentations, and team-building activities. Soon, the participants will realize that despite speaking different languages and growing up in different environments, they share many of the same dreams, challenges, and hopes for the future.
Each country will bring a piece of its culture to the exchange. Albanian dances, Portuguese traditions, Greek stories, Lithuanian songs, and Maltese hospitality will transform every evening into a celebration of diversity. Through workshops and discussions, participants will explore how travel can become a powerful educational tool, helping young people develop empathy, confidence, adaptability, and intercultural understanding.
Some of the days, the group will visit Malta’s historic cities and breathtaking coastline. Walking together through ancient streets, they will reflect on how travel opens minds and challenges stereotypes. They will learn that true education does not only happen in classrooms—it also happens through conversations, shared experiences, and stepping outside one’s comfort zone.
The Erasmus+ Youth Exchange Travel Minds wants to prove that travel is not a luxury—it is an opportunity for learning, inclusion, and personal transformation. Through this journey, the participants will discover that every new destination can open not only new roads, but also new minds.
